Toronto crash: Police investigate collision between a car and motorcycle

One person has died and another injured after a collision between a car and motorcycle in Toronto.

The car was coming from the direction of city hall and crashed near Silks Court in Etobicoke, northwest of Toronto, at about 20:15 GMT on Thursday.

Firefighter Lieut Alain Boutin said he was “shocked” by the incident, which took place near a heavily trafficked street.

Other road closures are in place in the area.

The Toronto Police Services confirmed on its Twitter account that the crash had involved a car, a motorcycle and another vehicle.

The crash killed one person and injured a second person in the car and one in the motorcycle, police told CBC. A person with minor injuries was taken to hospital, police said.

The name of the victim and the second person who was injured has not been released.

An investigation is now under way.

An amateur video of the crash on BlackBerry Street captured screams from the collision.

Toronto’s police said the investigation was under way, and that a vehicle was confiscated by officers.
