What happens when you put an American gal in charge of flying cars and a J.K. Rowling character in charge of watching those cars? Well, a reunion trailer released Friday by Warner Bros. is meant to answer that question, and it’s going to delight fans of the beloved Harry Potter series.
Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint — the young actors who first brought Harry Potter to life on the big screen — debuted the trailer for “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald” at London’s BFI Southbank Friday.
In the trailer, Luna Lovegood (Alison Sudol) appears to be an important player in the story with magical creatures in her life.
Perhaps most exciting, however, is the announcement that the first two editions of the Fantastic Beasts book will be turned into a movie. The plot of the movie, which is due in theaters on Nov. 16, 2018, is unclear, but Radcliffe told Entertainment Weekly that the plot is “very Harry Potter.”
“There’s a gang of witches and wizards, Grindelwald among them, who plan to enslave and destroy the muggle world,” he told the magazine. “So Grindelwald has one goal, which is to destroy the last of the muggle world, destroy the butterbeer, and destroy Hogwarts and all that.”
Grint, who is no longer in the Harry Potter universe, said that it was both “an honor and an odd thing to be involved in this new world, which we know very little about.”
“I don’t have a great knowledge of what’s going on,” he added. “I don’t know who all the characters are, so that kind of adds to the curiosity.”
